According to Guillem Balague, Real Madrid has rejected Kylian Mbappe's wage demands ahead of a possible free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Following the expiration of his current contract in Paris, the 23-year-old has been prominently connected with a move to the Bernabeu, with it generally claimed that the forward is Real's priority transfer target.

Despite reports that a deal had previously been reached between the player and the club, Balague reports that Los Blancos had rejected Mbappe's new demands.

According to the writer, Mbappe and his representatives sought an additional €100 million (£83 million) in salaries over the previously negotiated number, which the La Liga club turned rejected.

Despite the fact that no agreement has been reached ahead of a summer transfer, Real is thought to be optimistic in completing the free transfer.

The possibility of a delay in the agreement will give PSG more hope in persuading the Frenchman to prolong his stay in Paris, where he has 22 goals and 14 assists in his 30 Ligue 1 outings this season.
