Chelsea is 'exploring' signing €80 million player who Thomas Tuchel is a 'big fan' of
Chelsea's new owners must do some serious work this summer if they are to support manager Thomas Tuchel.
After another poor performance on the field this weekend, summing up what has been a hugely inconsistent season for the club, it is clear to me that this squad requires major improvements.
But will that happen now that the new owners are in charge? Of course, that question has yet to be answered.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club is still interested in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
Tuchel, he claims, is a big fan of the defender, and he is one of the potential targets for Tuchel this summer.
Chelsea is still considering Jules Koundé as a potential target; he is one of three CB options on the list. Tuchel has been a big fan of Koundé for the past two years. Sevilla has always demanded €80 million as a release clause price, whereas Chelsea will lose both Rüdiger and Christensen.
I believe we would get him for much less than the mentioned €80 million release clause this summer, and it's always seemed like a deal that was destined to happen to me.
According to reports, Chelsea have agreed to sign Sevilla's 23-year-old defender Jules Kounde in the summer.
The Premier League club was heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman both last summer and during the January transfer window, but Sevilla refused to budge on an €80m (£67.1m) asking price.
Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are set to leave Stamford Bridge on free transfers when their contracts expire in June, so head coach Thomas Tuchel is looking for defensive reinforcements.
Despite the fact that a previous deal fell through, Chelsea have a deal in place for Kounde ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Todofichajes.com.
According to the report, an agreement has already been reached for Kounde to move to England ahead of the 2022-23 season, with a transfer fee of around €60 million (£50.3 million) plus add-ons being completed.
After a potential move to Chelsea fell through last year, Kounde has gone on to make 39 appearances for Sevilla this season across all competitions, helping his side to third place in La Liga
