Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, has stated that the government intends to use ICT to change the newly constituted regions.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, speaking at the 3rd Girls in ICT event in Akyerensua, Ahafo Region, alluded to a monitoring system adopted by her ministry to verify that the tools provided and information affected are used for the intended purpose.

"We're concentrating on the new regions so that no one gets left behind." "We'll keep an eye on things to make sure the talents we've learned are put to good use," she added.

The topic of this year's Girls in ICT is Access and Safety, and the focus of this year's event is on internet access for girls and user safety. Laptops and awards were given to the top 100 females. In the schools of the top 20 females, fully equipped ICT laboratories will be constructed.

The STEM education location in Akrodie, a Goaso suburb, will be utilized to promote ICT studies for individuals who want to further their interest in Science, Engineering, and ICT, according to the lawmaker.

She also mentioned that new computer labs and Rural Telephony Sites are being built to provide voice and data access for the region's rural residents.

She did, however, advise people to register their SIM cards before July in order to prevent having them blocked. "We will not extend the deadline for registration of SIM cards because the date has already been extended; nevertheless, please register by the end of July so that we may utilize it to combat cybercrime in the nation." "I'm pleading with everyone to obtain a Ghana Card and use it to register, because if you don't, you'll lose your card for voice or data services," she says.

In his welcoming remarks, Regional Minister for the Ahafo Region, George Yaw-Boakye, thanked the Ministry for choosing such a youthful region as one of the beneficiaries of the Girls in ICT project.

He praised Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful for her tireless efforts to ensure that ICT education is widely available across the country.
