One of the major members of the policy think tank OccupyGhana has pledged to petition Cabinet every Monday until the 2022 Conduct of Public Officers Bill is approved.

This is to put pressure on Cabinet to deal with the Bill quickly and present it to Parliament for passage into law, according to Ace Annan Ankomah.

As a result, the famous private legal practitioner invited Ghanaians to join the discourse.

On JoySMS, he informed presenter Kojo Yankson that the Bill's passing is the first big step toward addressing the country's corruption problem.  "Every Ghanaian should put tremendous pressure on Cabinet to adopt this Bill as quickly as feasible and transmit it to Parliament, so that it can be passed before Parliament goes on holiday." And one of the things we're going to do is remind Cabinet every Monday that we're still waiting for clearance."

"We'll do it every Monday until it's approved," says the narrator. We'll write to Cabinet and tell them that Ghanaians are waiting for them to adopt the 2022 Conduct of Public Officers Bill so it can be sent to Parliament."

What has sparked the discussion?

Ghanaians raised the matter when certain government officials were suspected of seeking to illegally purchase property at the Achimota Forest Reserve.

President Akufo-Addo signed an Executive Instrument to declassify the Achimota Forest, which sparked outrage.

According to Section 19 of the Forest Act, 1927, the area on which the Forest is located will cease to be a forest reserve on May 1, 2022, according to the Instrument gazetted on behalf of President Akufo-Addo by the Lands Minister, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor (CAP. 157).

However, even before the dust had cleared, another startling find had been made in Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie's will.

The politician possessed various plots of property in the Forest Reserve, according to the 12-page document, which he has handed on to inheritors forever.
