With less than 24 hours to go before the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) regional elections in the Ashanti Region, the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) has asked for a voter audit.
According to the student organization, there is more than enough proof that the Ashanti Region's voting process is flawed.
For a long time, contestants have been making suggestions to the party regarding the voters album.
The TESCON leaders said during an emergency news conference held at the Catering rest house in Kumasi on Friday, May 27, 2022, that the album to be utilized for the election tomorrow does not contain the names of the TESCON president whose papers were stolen for the album's creation.
"In reality, a comprehensive examination of their album revealed 35 inconsistencies, including the fact that several of the said delegates are not students of the stated schools, others are former TESCON members who are no longer in the school, and others are completely unknown to TESCON." The album has a large number of phantom names."
"Right now, we're getting names of people who aren't members of TESCON, like nurses and former pupils."
They claimed that delegates from several unaccepted universities were included in the album.
"Media members, the following institutions have surfaced as unaccredited TESCON institutions, yet they have made their way into the album with allocated delegates:
Kessben adum campus of Newman College of Health
Aviation college on a global scale
The University of Oxford's School of Journalism
Abuakwa, Ghana Baptist University College
However, they argue that Kumasi Nursing and Midwifery Training College, which is recognized, has been excluded.
They concluded by saying:
"In light of this, we categorically reject the alleged delegates list; it is neither trustworthy, fraudulent, or representative of the TESCON." We propose that those of our TESCON leaders who have been meeting with aspirants since 2010, in accordance with the established convention, be restored as delegates to the Regional conference on Saturday, 2022.
