Mr. Peter Mac Manu, the New Patriotic Party's former Western Regional Chairman, believes the party has the proper persons with an ethical sense of purpose to win the general elections in 2024.

To that aim, he has urged the party to unite in order to break the eight-year streak.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Saturday, Mr Mac Manu, who was President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-2016 Addo's and 2020 National Campaign Manager, said: "We have a tremendous challenge ahead of us, but we will accomplish it because we have what it takes to win an election."

"We have the men and individuals in place to do the task. We have a mission and a development program that President Nana Addo and his cabinet are entrusting to the nation in terms of social infrastructure, among other things. So, as we approach 2024, I am confident in the NPP's ability to bring Ghana ahead "'I told the GNA,' he said.

Mr Mac Manu is now in the Western Region for the internal elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Ampain, Ellembelle District.

Internal NPP balloting is now taking place in seven zones to elect regional leaders.

Greater Accra, Eastern, Upper West, Volta, Oti, Western, and Ashanti are the regions.  The Ashanti region elections, which were initially set for Friday, have been rescheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi instead of the Regional Coordinating Council.

The election will include 32 candidates, including Chairman Wontumi incumbent Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Asare Bediako, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, and Kofi Adum Barwuah.

32 candidates are vying for executive posts in Accra.

The first vice-chairman post is the only one with an uncontested candidate among the ten portfolios up for grabs.

In Accra, current Chairman Divine Otoo Agorhom is facing former Acting Greater Accra Regional Chairman Alfred Boye.  On Friday, May 27, 2022, elections were held in seven regions: Northern, North East, Ahafo, Bono, East, Western North, and Upper East.

Five incumbent regional chairman were re-elected in those polls, while incumbents in the Bono East and Western North regions were defeated.

The Bono Region election is set for Sunday, May 29, 2022, whereas the Central Region election has been postponed indefinitely.
