Hon Alan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry, astonished the Eastern Region political establishment with the historic victory of his favored candidate in the present NPP Regional Delegates Congress.
The soft-spoken politician saw his selected candidate, Jeff Konadu, defeat the Bawumia & Jubilee House's pick, Kwadwo Boateng, in the chairmanship battle.
The Regional battle, which has already been dubbed a "miniature" of the approaching struggle between Dr Mahamud Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen, has many people asking why a pro-Bawumia seat was so easily hijacked by Alan's party.
At the cost of the unfortunate Kwadwo Boateng, Alan's candidate, Jeff Konadu, received a 100 percent raise.
Kwadwo Boateng fell short of 222 votes with 202 votes at the end of the competition, while Jeff Konadu won by a landslide 424 votes.
Alan Kyerematen now has complete control ahead of the much-anticipated Presidential Primaries, thanks to his triumph and other key regional posts in the Eastern area.
According to preliminary investigations, seven of the ten recently elected Ashanti NPP officials are pro-Alan Kyerematen.
In the areas of Oti, Volta, Upper West, Upper East, Bono, Gt. Accra, North East, Western, and Ahafo, Alan Kyerematen has won convincingly.

The campaign for the NPP Presidential Primaries may be one-sided rather than the predicted picture finish, with victory already secured in ten of the sixteen areas.
Since Nana Addo's second term as President of Ghana, the Alan-Bawumia race has remained one of the most talked-about intra-party contests.
In a yet-to-be-announced structure, all polling station executives, coordinators, constituency executives, and regional executives would join appointees and party elders to vote for the ruling NPP's next Presidential Candidate.
To determine who will lead the party to the 2024 General Election, the voting procedure might be dispersed across the area or staged in one region.
