An alleged dynamite explosion at Santa Maria in Accra has left two individuals wounded.
The cause of the incident is yet unknown, but neighbors in the region claim they are living in terror.
On Tuesday afternoon, at 3 p.m., an explosion was reported.
Gladys Fiavi, a woman, is alleged to have been caught in the blast, which resulted in the loss of her toe nails.
In an attempt to save Gladys, a pregnant woman who came to the scene passed out and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
In an interview with JoyNews, the assemblyman representing the region revealed that he learned about the occurrence and raced to the scene of the explosion.
"The incident occurred in a Santa Maria area at a voting polling booth. I received a call from one of the homeowners about 3 p.m. yesterday, stating that there was an explosion in the neighborhood, similar to a dynamite blast.
"I had to get to the location and report to NADMO as well as all of the other parties involved." We arrived on the spot but were unable to determine where the bomb originated, although people reported hearing a burst from the ground," Nana Kofi Boandwoah said.
Eyewitnesses who assisted in bringing the injured woman to the Anyaa Polyclinic stated they had never saw anything like it before in the neighborhood.
As a result, people have blocked off the area where the explosion occurred, preventing anyone from approaching the scene.
Meanwhile, "the Police, the NIB, and other security organizations are conducting investigations into the event," according to the Assemblyman.
"I'd like to urge to the appropriate authorities and stakeholders to come to our help and permanently resolve this issue since we don't know when it may happen again," he added.
According to reports, the injured are responding to treatment.
