Mark-Oliver Kevor, the opposition National Democratic Congress's Eastern Regional Secretary, is lacing his boot to run for the party's chairmanship.

Mr Kevor, a protégé of former Communications Minister Edward Omane Boamah, left his work as a lecturer at the Presbyterian University College, Abetifi Campus, to devote himself totally to the NDC, rising from Regional Secretary to Parliamentary contender in Afram Plains South in the last eight years.

Despite the fact that he hasn't publicly proclaimed his intention, he has garnered overwhelming support from the region's constituents.

The grassroots members, who are clamoring for him to run because of his bond with them, are the most recent to join.  At a recent health walk in Suhum, people of the party's grassroots were seen screaming his name, talking about him, and urging him to run.

He also provided some money as seed capital to all 33 constituencies in the region for the celebration of the NDC's 30th Anniversary on June 10, 2022, as part of his efforts to assist the party's operations.

"10th June would also mark 30 years since we developed to a prosperous and most democratised political party in Ghana and probably Africa," he said in a statement.

"Let me begin by congratulating the NDC on this momentous event. The National Democratic Congress has been in the forefront of maintaining a stable and efficient democratic system for three decades.

The fact that this is Ghana's longest Republic is no accident. We're proud of what we've accomplished as a group.

"For us in the Eastern Region, I'd want to pay tribute to our Founding Members who have passed away along the road, as well as the four who remain: Comrades Major (Rtd) Ted Tetteh, Kwame Amfo-Ntiri, Alhaji Abu Mohammed (alias Commander), and Asante Yamoah" (alias efie MPO nie). I applaud them for believing in the NDC 30 years ago and signing the legal paperwork that established our legitimacy as a political party."

According to him, NDC's contribution to the development of the Eastern Region is unrivaled.

"The NDC's track record in the Eastern Region is unrivaled, and our influence can be seen in every neighborhood." We have been concerned with providing public goods to the region's most distant areas and have driven development in every section of the region without prejudice. On this auspicious occasion, I say aye oo to all of our Eastern Region branch, constituency, and Regional Executives (past and present), as well as all of our members. I'd want to take this occasion to encourage the people to join the NDC, which will offer you with the good change you're looking for."

When approached, he affirmed that he will run for chairman of the party when it formally launches.
