Barcelona have been linked with a move for Manchester City's and Portugal's Bernardo Silva this summer.
Last summer, the midfielder was on Barcelona's radar, and the Citizens were willing to sanction a deal after the midfielder sought to go for family reasons. On the other hand, the Blaugrana were unable to raise the £60 million transfer fee.
Barça have identified Silva as a possible replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, City's local rivals, moving into the summer window.
Manchester City, on the other hand, have no intention of moving their star player, especially after another successful Premier League season in which he led the side to victory. According to the Mirror, the English champions have set a price for Silva of £80 million (€94 million) to discourage Barcelona from making a move. In 2021-22, Silva made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and adding seven assists. Because of his enthusiasm and professionalism, he is an important member of Pep Guardiola's squad.
Barcelona intends to sign Silva with the profits from de Jong's sale. According to the source, Manchester City executives are confident that Silva's asking price will not be met if the Dutchman joins their rivals.
Given that the 27-year-old Portuguese superstar's contract with the Citizens expires in three years, the English giants have the upper hand in contract negotiations. Silva's summer transfer to Barcelona appears to be in jeopardy at the moment.
