INTERNATIONAL TOURIST ARRIVALS GROW BY 75.59% IN 2021 AFTER DIPPING SIGNIFICANTLY IN 2020

According to the 2021 Tourism Report, there were 623,523 more foreign visitors in 2021 than there were in 2020.

 

International visitor visits decreased to 355,108 in 2020 from 1.130 million in 2019 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

 

 

However, the pattern shifted once COVID-19 was further relaxed in 2021.

 

 

 

The Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Cares Obataanpa initiative, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture all contributed to the report's creation.

 

 

 

The top 10 arriving nations at Kotoka International Airport in 2021 were the United States (92,139), Nigeria (59,193), the United Kingdom (34,073), Germany (14,785), and the Netherlands (11,923).

 

 

The remaining countries are China (8,088), South Africa (7,591), Canada (8,475), and Cote D'Ivoire (8,413). (7,048).  Visitors who stayed in hotels made up 38.6% of the total, while those who remained in private residences made up 41.4 percent. 12.9% of guests stayed in hotels, while 2.4% stayed in corporate housing.

 

 

 

23.6 percent of tourists were here for a vacation, while 29.7% came to Ghana exclusively for business.

 

 

 

Regarding the standard of hotel amenities, 28.20 percent and 60.70 percent, respectively, rated them as outstanding. Only 0. 30% of respondents thought the amenities were poor.

 

When asked about the quality of hotel services, 59.30% answered they were good, while 0.60% said they were poor.

 

 

60.60 percent of respondents to a survey about restaurant service quality rated it as good, while 0.70 percent rated it as poor.

 

In terms of airport facilities, 48.40 percent, the highest percentage, indicated that they were great, while 0.20 percent felt that they were subpar.

 

 

 

49.10 percent of respondents believed Ghanaians were friendly, while 1% disagreed.

 

 

67.7% of respondents stated their overall opinion of Ghana was positive, followed by comments like "great," "normal," and "bad" (25.5%).

 

 

 

The research claims that in 2020, tourism experienced its worst year ever worldwide.

 

 

 

Real-time data is now a crucial element for controlling destinations, reopening borders, and helping the sector recover more effectively from the crisis.
