Activities
The inauguration will have as its theme "Empowering the Ghanaian Child through Education - the role of Asanteman Europe," according to Nana Kwabena Opoku, chairman of the planning committee. A portion of the money raised at the ceremony will be used to support gifted but needy students in Ghana who want to pursue high-quality education.
Some of the cash, according to Nana Opoku, who also serves as the Adontenhene of the Asanteman Traditional Council of the Netherlands, would be used to help a few health institutions in the Ashanti Region.
He continued by saying that there will be cultural displays in kete, adowa, fntmfrm, etc. that would also allow attendees to learn about Asante culture.
Short History
Asanteman Europe was founded in February 2018 in Zurich, Switzerland, when some Asantes living in Europe realised the need to promote Asante culture, especially for the younger generation in the diaspora. Nana Ekuoba Gyasi Sempremo Gyima, the Board Chairman of Asanteman Europe and the Asantemanhene of Finland, gave a brief history of the group.
He said that the group's founders, who resided in Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Denmark, and Belgium, chose 11 people to serve as temporary executives before they were chosen to serve as substantive executives and lead the organisation.
