Patrick Yaw Boamah, a member of parliament representing Okaikwei Central, has urged the government's officials to properly negotiate with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in order to benefit Ghanaians.

He implied that no government would want to make people's lives miserable or uncomfortable by its policies and actions.

On Friday, July 1, he told TV3's Parliamentary Correspondent Komla Kluste that Ghanaians should emphasise "the circumstances that would lead you there." Second, Ghanaians should focus on the program's outcomes and the circumstances they will bring about.

Let's take a closer look at the debates, interactions, and outcomes that will result from the programme. So, we wish the administration luck in their efforts to improve their negotiating skills and make sure we stay on course for everyone's benefit.

"No government worth its salt will claim that I intend to impoverish the masses or make people's life difficult, but some situations beyond of our control will inevitably result in certain sufferings, which we all concede to."

According to Mr. John Kumah, deputy minister of finance, an IMF programme will assist the nation in overcoming its economic difficulties more quickly.

He stated that the administration is hoping the scheme would help the nation.

"As a government, our goal is to regain public trust in the economy and help it recover from the difficulties and problems it is now facing, not only in Ghana but in practically all other economies worldwide.

"In our opinion, an IMF intervention will enable us to recover more quickly than we otherwise could. We expect that it would be advantageous to the nation," he said on TV3's Komla Adom's midday broadcast on Friday, July, while elaborating on the President's directive to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to begin official contacts with the IMF, urging the Fund to assist government programmes.

This came after the President and Miss Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF Managing Director, spoke on the phone and discussed Ghana's choice.
