Two Asankrangwa Senior High School instructors have been put into police prison by an Asankrangwa District Magistrate Court after being accused of raping and abusing two of the school's first-year pupils.
While in court, Captain Kofi Takyi of Ahobrasea FM in Asankrangwa informed Connect FM that suspects Augustine Swanzy Oduro and Ernest Donkor had also been charged with indecent assault in violation of Section 203 of the Criminal Offences Act (29/60) and rape, respectively.
Ernest Donkor, 28, and Augustine Swanzy Oduro, 34, are teachers of physics and history, respectively, at the institution, according to ASP J. A. Kwarkye, who read the brief fact before the court presided over by His Worship Justice Augustine Fiifi Donful.
First-year students at the same school, the victims are 15 and 16 (name withheld).
According to the prosecutor, the complaint is Asankrangwa Senior High School's Assistant Headmaster, Daniel Quayson Junior.
In order to be able to take the victims out to celebrate one of the victims' birthdays, the two suspects took the victims outside of the school's grounds on Thursday, July 14, during the Amenfi West Municipal Inter-School tournament conducted at the Asankrangwa Senior High School.
The suspects reserved a motel in Wassa Dunkwa near Asankrangwa at 2:00 pm on the same day.
For the victims, the two accused purchased a Malta Guinness beverage.
The 16-year-old victim was taken to a hotel room by suspect Ernest Donkor in an effort to speak with her, and the 15-year-old victim was taken to another hotel room by suspect Augustine Swanzy Oduro in a similar effort.
During the chat, the 16-year-old girl excused herself to go the restroom and left her Malta Guinness drink behind with defendant Ernest Donkor still there.
After returning from the bathroom and drinking the Malta Guinness beverage, the victim experienced lightheadedness and passed out. Later, when she came to, she discovered herself on the bed, nude, with blood smears between her thighs.
While in the room, the suspect Augustine Swanzy Oduro made physical contact with the 15-year-old girl, fondling her breasts and stroking her buttocks.
The victim was able to escape the room, and the two suspects subsequently returned the two victims to the school's grounds.
Suspect Ernest Donkor urged them not to inform anybody about what transpired at the hotel while they were travelling to the university and made a promise to buy an iPhone 7plus, pizza, and food for the 16-year-old victim.
The event was reported by the victims to the Assistant Headmaster, the complaint, that same day in the evening.
The complainant, assisted by the victims and the police, apprehended the suspects at the Asankrangwa Police Station on July 15 and filed a complaint. On behalf of the 16-year-old victim, police handed medical paperwork to the complaint so that she may go to the hospital for a checkup.
