Everything is prepared for this Saturday, July 23, 2022, to be the day of the second annual Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Insurance Excellence Awards event.

The event takes place in the opulent Labadi Beach Hotel after the first successful iteration in November 2020.

In addition to honouring people and organisations that have succeeded in the profession of insurance over time, the distinguished award event also recognises other stakeholders, such as journalists who have excelled in their coverage of insurance and public awareness campaigns.

The CIIG Awards Committee's chair, Miss Lydia Lariba Bawa, a former commissioner of insurance, has played a crucial role in ensuring that the Awards will continue to exist.

She credited Bishop Asante Marfo-Ahenkora, the immediate past president of the CIIG, and other Council Members for establishing the reputable awards programme at the first edition, noting that the insurance business had "been pining for a legitimate award scheme" for some time.

It is clear from the second edition of the awards, which are being held under the presidency of Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, and have as their theme "Celebrating excellence in Ghana's Insurance Industry," that the insurance sector has done its best to increase the public's trust and confidence in insurance.

In recognition of their professionalism in their respective industries, people and organisations would be honoured at the conclusion of the event. The only aim of the event is to encourage excellence in insurance professionals by recognising best practises in Ghana's insurance sector. At the conclusion of the event, people and organisations will be recognised for the professionalism displayed in their respective professions.

The winners of the many award categories will be chosen using a variety of explicitly stated and well publicised criteria, taking into account things like professional behaviour, leadership abilities, industry contributions, and quantitative metrics, among other things. To guarantee fairness and openness, the entire process is carried out under the direction and supervision of KPMG.

Young Insurance Professional of the Year, Professional Underwriter of the Year, Claims Professional of the Year, and Insurance Professional of the Year are a few of the individual awards that will be presented.

Insurance businesses, reinsurance companies, broking firms of the year, product(s) of the year, and I.T. Innovative company of the year are among the corporate categories that will be recognised.

Insurance reporter of the year and insurance media house of the year are two further noteworthy award categories.

The National Insurance Commission (NIC), the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG), the Ghana Insurance College (GIC), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana (CILAG), as well as numerous other insurance providers and brokers, are all supporting this year's awards ceremony.
