Esther A. N. Cobbah, CEO of Strategic Communication Africa (Stratcomm Africa), was honoured at the 9th edition of As de la Communication as a "Public Relations Personality" (ASCOM).

She was also recognised for her "stellar achievements in communications" and "contribution to the growth of the profession in Africa" during the annual African Communication event held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.

Politicians, titans of industry, and communicators all came to the occasion.

Experienced professionals and well-known figures in the African communication sector are brought together by ASCOM, a forum for exchanging and sharing communication skills.

This yearly event's major goal is to revitalise the communication sector and inspire businesses and organisations to use communication as a significant performance lever.

There is no denying the need of communication for Africa's growth, according to Madam Cobbah. In order for communication to be effective, a methodical, scientific, and professional approach is required.

"It is encouraging to see how the significance of communication is being recognised in more and more of our varied nations."

Her wish was that "we would continue to develop a network of professional communication excellence across the continent of Africa" as she thanked the recipients of other awards.

Orange, Cote d'Ivoire won another award for excellence in digital communication.

The Havas Group's Stephane Fouks, Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, president and founder, Zenab Badawi, previously of BBC World News and presently serving as managing director of Kush Communications, and Fouks received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"ASCOM honours organisations, institutions and communities whose achievements are etched with perseverance and inspire hope for the future of our great profession," stated Michel Russel Lohoré, the man behind ASCOM.

Sharon Anim, manager of PR & communications at Stratcomm Africa, declared: "Stratcomm Africa is proud of the global acclaim that our founder has received in Africa and elsewhere.

"Stratcomm Africa continues to unleash excellence in using our communication knowledge to deliver the impacts that our clients demand for their success," the company's mission statement states.

The founder and CEO of Stratcomm Africa has received numerous honours over the years, including Media Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010, (Entrepreneurs Foundation), Marketing Woman of the Year in 2012, (Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG)), IPR personality of the Year in 2013, (Institute of Public Relations, Ghana), and 2015 Top 50 Female Business Leadership Award 2017 (International Summit on African Leadership, New York, USA), Women in PR (PR News, New York), CSR CEO of the Year 2017 (Centre for CSR West Africa).

She was chosen to serve on the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Board as the first African from a continent south of the Sahara.

Madam Cobbah was previously on the Council of the Advertisers Association of Ghana and currently is on the Governing Council of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR) (AAG).
