We can’t expect IMF to discipline our leaders; we must compel them to think;
Prestigious Ghanaian writer, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has said for things to improve in Ghana, Ghanaians should be involved and request change.
Talking at a public talk coordinated by Arise Ghana in Accra on Wednesday, July 20, the overseeing supervisor of the Insight Newspaper showed that the populace should not sit and anticipate that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will train the authorities of government.
He contended that with power lying in the possession of the Ghanaian public, they should be the ones to dole out any sort of discipline to pioneers who keep on bombing the country.
"We shouldn't anticipate that the IMF should train our chiefs. On the off chance that our chiefs are careless it depends on us to toss them out of office. On the off chance that our chiefs are indisciplined, it is our obligation to train them," Kwesi Pratt Jnr said at the Public Lecture while talking on the subject, 'Ghana's Socio-financial Outlook, the Prospects of an IMF Program'.
The veteran columnists added, "The solution to Ghanaian issues is in Ghana and not at the IMF. How about we take care of our own concerns here. The solution to Ghanaians' concern is with Ghanaians and absolutely not the IMF and not the World Bank."
As per him, the Ghanaian public should rise and constrain pioneers to think and bring the required change that will set the country on the way of development and advancement.
During his talk, Kwesi Pratt Jnr said the present status of the imploding Ghanaian economy requires basic rebuilding.
He recommends that the nation quickly center around creating what it needs and cut down on over the top imports.
"What the nation needs is a central rebuilding of the Ghanaian economy. Which ensures Ghanaians can raise their own Guinea fowls, an economy which will guarantee we eat what we develop," Kwesi Pratt Jnr added.
