Due to the deplorable condition of the roads in the region, the Ashanti Region's members of parliament have urgently requested a meeting with President Akufo-Addo.

Although some roads have been restored, and the Ashanti Caucus Chairman Kwame Anyimadu Antwi praised the government for that, he said more has to be done since their constituents are under a lot of strain.

We have constituencies like Manso Adobea, Nkwanta, Bantama, Kwadaso..., and Asante Akyem North and South. The roads in Kwabre East are quite terrible. So practically every constituency has some issues about highways, he added.

According to Mr. Anyimadu Antwi, the Ashanti MPs think that once local road improvements are finished, residents would have more faith in the administration.

He continued by saying that the Ashanti Caucus's leadership will eventually bring up other pressing concerns, such the lack of energy in the area.

This comes after Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader and MP for Suame, was attacked by disgruntled residents who were upset with the status of the local road system.

Mr. Anyimadu Antwi responded by denouncing the assault on the Majority Leader and urging his followers to use calm while urging the government to restore the roads.

We strongly oppose this behaviour. I'm not sure if Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu received resources that he needed to employ in the area but weren't.

He also requested the Suame citizens who participated in the assault to apologise to Mr. Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu. The New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to the minority in parliament, allegedly orchestrated the assault on the majority leader.

According to Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Ranking Member of the Roads and Transport Committee of the Parliament. He said that the NPP had orchestrated the attack to hasten the loan approval for the Suame 4-tier junction.

On Tuesday, July 19, the Adaklu lawmaker asked the public to dismiss the same in a tweet. "Ignore the phoney demonstration over terrible roads at Suame. The NPP had the idea and put it into action to "Fasttrack" the permission of millions of euros to construct a four-tier interchange at Suame.
