The elder brother of the late former president John Evans Atta Mills and head of the Atta Mills family, Mr. Koku Anyidoho, has been charged with abusing the 10th anniversary celebration for personal advantage.

According to Mr. Cadman Atta Mills, Koku Anyidoho promoted his institute and his employers through the renovation of the former President's final resting place, Asomdwee Park.

He claims that Koku Anyidoho doesn't even know how to spell the former president's name correctly. "For someone who claimed to know him well to put a hyphen between the two names, even though the owner of the name himself has never put a hyphen in that name." "They promoted themselves, their institute, and their pay paymasters with this so-called remodelling."

The family is not aware of the Institute, according to Mr. Cadman Mills.

President John Evans Atta Mills' burial has been disturbed by the Coastal Development Authority and a group going by the name of Atta-Mills Institute that the family doesn't even recognise.

He said, "They say they are reconstructing the tomb, but they have removed the tomb." The family has stated that it is thinking of suing the Atta Mills Institute. In my role as Prof. John Evans Atta Mills' elder sibling, as the person named in Prof. Mills' will as the executor of his will and the guardian of his legacy, and Now that I am serving as the Ebusua Panyin, the family has determined that we will contact our attorneys to ensure that we investigate all options for halting the Atta-Mills Institute.

Background

The late President's family and Mr. Anyidoho had a dispute before this memorial over the upkeep of Asomdwoe Park, the location of his final burial place. Samuel Atta-Mills, the former president's brother, said that Mr. Anyidoho had tampered with their relatives' graves.

"Is the body still in that grave now that you have gone to touch it? Who or what did you bury? What sort of rite did you carry out there? Why would you visit the tomb without telling us first? Who now owns the body? And that's the query I'd want to pose to Ghanaians. Why do you wish to subject us to grief repeatedly?

However, Mr. Anyidoho rejected the family's assertions.

He said that the state was giving the late President's burial sites new respect.

What is Sammy Atta-Mills saying? "It was only a wooden box, an unattractive wooden box that was used to hide the object by John Mahama. We dismantled it and replaced it with granite stone.
