The Appointed Time Press (ATP), a division of the Jospong Group of Companies, continues to manufacture textbooks for elementary schools, to the satisfaction of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education (JGC). To far, ATP has printed and delivered 600,000 Science textbooks to the nation's government elementary schools.
One of the five printing companies that the government has hired to produce textbooks for elementary schools all around the nation is ATP. 800,000 copies of the company's fundamental science textbooks are anticipated to be printed and distributed around the nation.
The corporation said that it had completed 50% of the project in July of this year. This came after the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, visited ATP's facilities for an inspection trip. The committee was very impressed by the cutting-edge printing equipment employed by ATP. Mr. Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah, the committee's chairman, praised ATP for their great work.
On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the committee members visited ATP's headquarters in Accra for an inspection in order to assess the status of the printing project that the business was working on.
Mr. Amankwa Asiamah informed the media following the inspection tour of the printing house that elementary school students will now receive books to read and learn. He said that the books' printing quality was excellent and that they met the standards, particularly for elementary school students. However, he urged the government to critically examine the tax elements imposed on the importation of printing supplies.
He saw that textbook imports from China and India were less expensive. He ascribed this to tax breaks provided by the governments of these two nations to the local printing industries.
Ms. Jacqueline Afful, the managing director of ATP, revealed that her organisation has already printed and distributed 600,000 elementary science textbooks across the country.
She gave me the reassurance that the last 200,000 textbooks will be delivered on time. She reiterated the pledge made by her firm to finish printing the remaining textbooks by the end of August 2022 for distribution to elementary schools. She said that the corporation gave the books' quality special consideration because youngsters would be using them.
