The 32-year-old stated that all new members of the team are welcome, but they must demonstrate the appropriate level of dedication both during and after the 2022 World Cup.

Six fresh players had consented to represent Ghana abroad, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said in June.

Inaki Williams from Spain, Tariq Lamptey from England, Patrick Pfeiffer, Stephan Ambrosius, and Ransford Yeboah from Germany, together with Mohammed Salisu, have all changed their minds.

Ghanaians disagree about the timing of their nationality changes, with some calling them opportunistic.

While that is a valid worry, according to Ayew, the Black Stars currently need every bit of skill they can acquire to succeed on the international scene.

"I am aware that some individuals claim to have traveled because of the World Cup, but, to be honest, we will never know [the true motivation]. We are aware that these players are talented and capable of adding something to the team, he told Graphic Sport.

"Now that they've made up their minds to travel here, if they have the proper heart and the right resolve to die for the team from the first minute to the 90th minute throughout the World Cup and after the World Cup, we will open every door that we have to make them comfortable."

The Al Sadd striker continued, "Foremost, they are welcome because they regarded themselves to be Ghanaians and are prepared to play for Ghana. We will throw open the door to anyone who can contribute in the long run and help us accomplish something.

"Everyone will welcome them into the squad if they join with the right heart and the correct idea."

The remainder of the team—aside from Pfeiffer, who wasn't invited—is now in Ghana getting ready for friendly against Brazil and Nicaragua.

The five are anticipated to participate in the matches, which are part of the Black Stars' build-up to the World Cup in Qatar, where they will face off against Uruguay, South Korea, and Portugal in a group.
