Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former sports minister for Ghana, has advised Black Stars players to avoid interacting with ladies while competing in the World Cup in Qatar because he wants them to give it their all.

Ankrah, who was in charge of Ghana's catastrophic World Cup run in 2014, thinks that spouses and girlfriends might divert players' attention.

He advised participants to refrain from bringing their spouses to the competition in order to focus on winning.

"For the duration of the World Cup, the squad must be committed and focused. This competition is only going to last a few weeks. For those few weeks, the players should separate from their spouses and girlfriends in order to concentrate on bringing honor to Ghana and themselves "Ankrah said in a Ghana News Agency interview.

"It is an honor to wear the national colors, and athletes should not believe that by representing Ghana, they are doing us a favor."

The Black Stars defeated Nigeria in a two-legged playoff on away goals to go to the World Cup for the fourth time.

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa was Ghana's finest World Cup performance, as they advanced to the quarterfinals.

The last game before the team goes to Qatar is scheduled to be a friendly against Switzerland; coach Otto Addo has not yet announced his preliminary roster for the competition.

In the group stage, Ghana will compete against Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.

Former club coach Samuel Boadu, according to Hearts of Oak Board member Vincent Sowah Odotei, was not in favor of the GHALCA top six tournament in 2022.

Boadu and the Phobians split after a terrible start to the season, which included one loss and two draws, the most recent of which was the 1-1 tie with Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium just before the league was suspended.

The Accra-based team's first league championship came two seasons after the 36-year-old took the helm. During his tenure at the club, he also captured back-to-back MTN FA Cups, the Super Cup, and the 2021 President's Cup.

Samuel Boadu stated that he will not participate in the G6. He refused to be persuaded despite our efforts.

Sowah Odotei told Accra-based Hot FM, "We even advised him to deploy the new guys and other periphery players, but he still denied playing the G6."

David Ocloo has been named the club's assistant coach by Hearts of Oak, working with U-20 coach Samuel Nii Noi.
