Salis Abdul Samed, a midfielder for Ghana, has urged his countrymen to have patience with the Black Stars as they rebuild after failing to advance to the tournament's next round.

Following a 2-0 loss against Uruguay, the Black Stars fell out of the tournament after the first round.

The Black Stars needed a draw or win against Uruguay after defeating South Korea in their last group match to go to the round of 16.

However, the team was unable to come to an agreement with Uruguay, its so-called "enemy."

As happened in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup, Ghana had a solid start to the game before crumbling after captain Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 21st minute.

The RC Lens midfielder claimed in an interview with 3 Sports that the Black Stars succeeded despite the players' lack of familiarity with one another.

"In my opinion, the team is presently being built. We are learning since we don't know each other; yet, I believe that if we did, we could have accomplished much more. We have good players in Europe, it's a buildup team, and I think we have the qualities; we just don't know each other very well. I think if the staff, management, and President Kurt Okraku could keep the same team or add some members."

"Even though we don't know each other very well, we did well, but the country is a little disappointed that we didn't qualify. We all gave it our best effort, and although we don't know each other, I think this team is very strong, he said.

The Black Stars will now turn their focus to the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

With four points from their first two qualification games, the four-time African champions are in first place in Group D.
