The newly developed National Corporate Governance Code (NCGC), which will act as a unified national corporate governance reference for good corporate governance for all stakeholders in the nation, is about to be introduced by the Institute of Directors-Ghana in collaboration with the Bank of Ghana and other significant stakeholders.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and the President of IoD-Gh, Rockson Dogbegah, among others, will attend the launch event scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Kempinski Hotel.
The National Corporate Governance Code was created through the formation of a technical committee made up of candidates from institutions representing cross-sector stakeholder groups. To draught the Code, key stakeholders were planned for, developed, and consulted.
The project's goal, according to IoD-Gh President Rockson Dogbegah, who spoke before the launch, is to guarantee that all important stakeholders actively participate in the development of Ghana's national corporate governance code in order to assure a high implementation culture.
Additionally, he was confident that the Code will hasten Ghana's national and economic development.
"The creation of this thorough National Corporate Governance Code not only lays out the foundational values for the corporate governance culture for both public and private organisations, but it will also increase Ghana's appeal as a global investment destination in accordance with international best practises.
It is imperative that everyone adopt this Code because, in the Institute's opinion, doing so will encourage the best corporate governance practises in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Rockson Dogbegah continued.
The 3rd Edition of the Directors Hand Book will be released at the event, new members will be admitted to IoD-Ghana, and the 5th IoD-Gh Excellence Awards will be presented. These awards recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of people and organisations that exhibit excellence in leadership, sound corporate governance practises, and have made a significant contribution to the socioeconomic development of Ghana.
