Prediction of the NDC Chairmanship Election by Ben Ephson
Ben Ephson Pollster, a well-known Ghanaian pollster Ben Ephson has stated that he will be shocked if the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) General Secretary is chosen to serve as the new Chairman of the delegates' congress.
The Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo of the current board would likely be retained rather than Johnson Aseidu Nketia, according to the managing editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper.
He claims that his prediction is based on the results of the Youth and Women's conference that took place last Saturday at the University of Cape Coast.
"The tone and volume of voting in the elections for women and young people send a message. How do you overhaul a team that performed so admirably from 2016 through 2020? Mahama was defeated in the 2016 election by almost one million votes.
In an interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio, he stated, "In 2020, he lost by roughly 514,000 votes and if the trend of voting in the women and youth election is an indicator, I will be extremely astonished if Asiedu Nketiah wins."
Mr. Ephson stated that the candidate has shot himself in the foot in light of a tape that was leaked of Mr. Nketia a few days prior to the congress on Saturday.
"The Asiedu Nketia audio hasn't helped him at all. He has only been exposed as someone who would forsake the party's overall success for his own egotistical and selfish gain, the speaker continued.
In the now-viral audio, the NDC scribe claimed that his candidate, Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo, was at odds with former President John Mahama. He was speaking to some party members.
A political party hoping to gain control of the government in 2024 will not fare well as a result of this miscommunication between the Chairman and an incoming flagbearer.
He further blamed the National Chairman for the NDC's defeat in 2020 for failing to put the necessary measures in place.
