Ghanaians who are unprotected against the Covid-19 virus are recommended to take the necessary precautions to get vaccinated by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service.
The best defense against the virus, according to Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, is receiving the recommended doses. He made this statement on Newsnight on Joy FM on Monday.
He explained to the host Blessed Sogah that there are still many individuals in Ghana who have not received their full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. We have residents in certain remote places where the populace is pretty ignorant; either they have not been exposed to an infection or have not had vaccinations, which is why we must exercise greater caution than other nations. We are urging individuals to get their second dosage and booster shots because of this, he said.
Dr. Kuma-Aboagye stated that further vaccinations are on the way for Ghanaians in Accra and the surrounding areas.
After ending its severe Covid restrictions in December, China saw a surge in Covid-19 cases. China is subject to sanctions from a number of nations, including the US, UK, Morocco, Italy, France, Australia, and Canada.
The Ghana Airports Company added restrictions for travelers arriving from China and other nations with poor records on Monday.
In the meanwhile, Dr. Kuma-Aboagye said that the Ghana Health Service will keep an eye on the situation in China and adjust the limitations based on the information they received.
Nevertheless, he went on to say that while Ghana should be alert, the present COVID-19 scenario in the nation is favourable.
"Our last active case was nine, and we don't now have any patients on admission, any critical cases, any deaths, or even any serious cases. The situation as it stands now is thus acceptable, but the more so because of this, the more we must do to preserve it that way, according to Dr. Kuma-Aboagye.
