The first phase of the Appiatse community is anticipated to be finished by the end of this year, according to Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources.

He claims that the administration wants to finish the project on schedule and that community rehabilitation is proceeding according to plan.

God willing, all else being equal, we will complete phase one of the Appiatse community restoration by the end of this year, and that will allow us to relocate the Appiatse residents who have been displaced, he added.

The Minister stated that upon completion of the project, the neighbourhood will have roads, markets, schools, hospitals, clinics, community centres, and access to power and drinkable water.

The Damongo MP said he is satisfied with the pace of the work while speaking on Wednesday during a ceremony to examine the progress of construction at Appiatse.

He claimed that as of right now, 124 housing units, including residences with two to seven bedrooms, are being built, while another 104 are only getting their foundations laid.

The initiative, according to Mr. Jinapor, will serve as a model for other rural areas around the nation.

He also expressed his gratitude to the administration for its efforts to guarantee that the residents of Appiatse resume their regular way of life.

In fact, what has occurred in the Appiatse neighbourhood "is a strong evidence that we have a government that walks the talk," he added.

Reiterating that the government is absolutely committed to finishing the rebuilding and making sure that people are appropriately relocated, the minister said.

In the interim, he provided Gh15,000 along with supplies for relief efforts, including 20 cartons of tomato tins, 50 bags of 25 kg rice, 8 cartons of canned fish, 5 cartons of oil, and 20 packs of water.

Remember that on January 20, 2022, a vehicle carrying mining explosives crashed in Appiatse, causing an explosion-induced fire that resulted in the deaths of roughly 13 people?
