The head of Corinthians claims that Cristiano Ronaldo's pay request at Al-Nassr was 20 times greater than ours.
The president of Corinthians, Duilio Monteiro Alves, admitted that the Brazilian club did make an attempt to get Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese superstar claimed that he had turned down "several clubs" in order to finalize his lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
I am aware that he also had offers from Europe. However, the Saudi Arabian offer was 20 times greater, according to Alves.
"I spoke with Jorge Mendes [Cristiano's agent at the time] six or seven times, and in the end, we sent a proposal through someone else," he continued.
"I even hoped he wouldn't accept the proposal I made [laughs]. Just kidding, we were forewarned by numerous partners. We had to at least try, I believe. You must pursue the best in the world when you are the president of Corinthians, he continued.
In order to join Al Nassr, Ronaldo personally chose to turn down numerous other offers from clubs all over the world.
"I'm thrilled to have made this significant life decision. My work is finished in Europe. I played for the most prestigious clubs in Europe and won everything. At the news conference last week, Ronaldo had declared, "This is a new challenge.
Nobody is aware of this, yet numerous clubs sought to recruit me in Europe, Brazil, Australia, the United States, and even Portugal. I swore to this club, Ronaldo continued. "I want to present a unique perspective on this nation and football. This is the reason I seized the chance, he continued.
Musalli Almuammar, president of Al Nassr, declined to reveal the precise numbers in the 2.5-year agreement.
He is the best player in football history, thus it makes sense that he would command the highest price or pay, according to Almuammar. "He definitely deserves this, so the amount of money he will accept," one person said.
