Saint Osei, the PRO for Accra Great Olympics, questions why 10 extra minutes were given to their Ghana Premier League matchup against Asante Kotoko, the defending champions, in week 11.
Due to a late goal by Andrews Appau, Asante Kotoko avoided losing to Great Olympics at home on Sunday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, on Matchday 11 of the ongoing 2022–23 Ghanaian top-flight league season, the Porcupine Warriors played host to the Dade Boys.
Great Olympics took the lead after the break in just two minutes. After the interval, the visitors got off to a strong start as Bashiru Abdul scored a beautiful goal to give them the lead.
Despite their best efforts, Asante Kotoko was unable to score until nine minutes remained in regulation.
The reds forced the game to conclude in a 1-1 tie thanks to a goal from Andrews Appau.
In response to the outcome, Saint Osei said:
"Those who witnessed the game will be able to tell that Great Olympics won. In my opinion, Kotoko wouldn't have equalized if it weren't for the 10 minutes of intense play that shouldn't have been introduced. Everyone saw it, we play for 90 minutes, worst case three, four, or five is added," he said on Peace FM, which Footballghana.com was listening to.
These ten minutes were really important. This was something I had never seen until the World Cup. It did not take more than three minutes, plus or minus, for other players to sustain injuries before our goalie was hurt. Yes, chances were made and lost, but the game was so simple. Great Olympics was clearly in the lead. When the 10-minute mark arrived, I realized there was a problem.
