A fight between military guards on duty at Asante Gold Corporation in Bibiani, in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, resulted in five injuries.
Kwabena Dickson, the Western North regional correspondent for UTV, said that it is unknown what precipitated the altercation.
Abdellah Adams Mohammed, the assemblyman for the Bibiani Zongo electoral area, told the media that after hearing that one of the Zongo residents had been shot, he decided to find out more information. However, when he tried to get information from the military guards' leadership, they severely beat him.
Speaking with the local assemblyman, he also revealed that several Bibiani people had gone to the Asante Gold Corporation's facilities to obtain some things that were referred to as "black," but the military had forced them to give them back.
However, the locals were unwilling to comply, which led to the altercation.

One of the casualties is in serious condition due to a gunshot wound, as stated to the media by the assemblyman for the region, Abdullah Adams Mohammed.
