Christine Assan was chosen as the winner for her intelligence and prowess in reading and memorization.
She received a laptop as part of her reward, which was given to her recently at a ceremony by Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The 40-day vacation reading challenge, with the topic "How many books can you read?," was created in partnership with Smartline Limited with the goal of inspiring young people to enjoy reading and getting them hooked on books.
intentional attempts
Dr. Bawumia remarked in a speech following the prize ceremony that cultivating a reading culture among the populace, particularly youngsters, requires concerted efforts from both parents and the government.
He emphasised that the best approach to close the nation's present learning poverty gap was for children to be able to read and write by the age of ten.
Without swift action to address learning poverty, he said, "We risk a learning and human capital catastrophe."
reading enthusiasm
According to the Daily Graphic, Emmanuel Roos Ansah, Head of Academics at RisingSun Montessori School in Lashibi, claimed that participation in such competitions was the only way for kids and young people to develop an interest in reading.
"As a result, I implore all parents to give their children's development as readers and intelligent youngsters first priority.
At RisingSun, we don't take this for granted; in fact, it's one of our main goals and top priorities," he stated.
happy times
On how she entered the contest and how the school feels about her victory, Mr. Ansah said it had been a time to be proud of.
"The goal of the tournament is to have the Ghanaian youngster read multiple books in the quickest amount of time while summarising them to get points.
His explanation was that "her mother spotted the notification online and enrolled her, at which point she received access to many eBooks.
