Out of 5,295 applications, the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has admitted 5,143 students to study in a variety of programs during the academic year 20232024.
Of the 5,143 successful candidates, at least 3,729 have enrolled to start their programs.
The courses offered include the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Professor David Kofi Essumang, the university's vice chancellor, said this at the matriculation of freshmen last Saturday on the university's grounds in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The Matriculation Oath was taken by the incoming students as a last step in the admissions process.
Comportment
Prof. Essumang pleaded with the new students to abstain from any improper conduct that would expose them to danger.
This, he said, encompassed cheating on exams, cultism, hooliganism, corruption, and fraud.
Prof. Essumang gave the students advice on how to conduct oneself, including how to treat coworkers and staff with respect, how to dress modestly and properly, and how to handle situations with sensitivity, care, and conscience.
He additionally exhorted students to continually work to defend the university's principles.
resources, instruction
Prof. Essumang claimed that despite having fewer resources, the institution has continued to operate and provide its students with a high-quality education.
So, he asked the students to continue to be sensible and make wise use of the university's limited resources by stopping any leaks that could occur to maintain what it already had and to help conserve resources so they might be directed towards more urgent requirements.
Collaborations
Regarding practical training for students, the Vice-Chancellor stated that KTU had forged connections with institutions and other organizations on a local as well as international level in order to exchange ideas, offer a forum for staff and student interaction, and act as a practical training ground for the students for the benefit of business.
The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences, Regensburg Technical University, Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences, and Dsseldorf University of Applied Sciences were among the worldwide collaborators, according to Prof. Essumang.
The Vice-Chancellor stated, "At the local level, the institution had established partnerships with the Statistical Service, Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua Biogas Technologies, Africa Limited, GRIDCo, GHACEM, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Glico, and Kasapreko, among others.
exchange initiatives
Prof. Essumang emphasized that the institution has continued to concentrate on quality in teaching, research, and service to society when he noted that two students from the Renewable Energy Systems Department were now in Dsseldorf for an exchange program.
He emphasized that the university's vision, which is to be a reference point for top-notch science and technology education and applied research to effectively provide tertiary level technical education through the development of career-focused skills in partnership with industry, has this as one of its guiding principles.
