KELVYN BOY ON "BIG CONVO": GHANAIANS DON'T NEED TO OWN AFROBEAT TO SUCCEED

Kelvyn Boy, the Ghanaian Afrobeat sensation, recently appeared on the 3 Music program called "Big Convo" to discuss how to promote Ghanaian artists and music. The conversation was quite interesting, as there were divergent views among the panelists regarding the best way to promote Ghanaian music.

C-Real, one of the panelists, was of the view that Ghanaian artists should be the focal point. He argued that when the top artists doing Afrobeat in the world are Ghanaians, then the focus will be on Ghana.

On the other hand, Jay Foley, the host of the show, disagreed with C-Real, saying that Ghanaians are not doing well in the Afrobeat space because they do not own it. He argued that to succeed in the music industry, Ghanaian artists need to take ownership of Afrobeat and promote it as their own.

However, Kelvyn Boy, with his wealth of experience touring across the world, had a different view. He explained to the panelists that Ghanaian artists do not need to own the Afrobeat genre before they can do well. His song Down Flat is an example of how Ghanaians can make quality music that can compete on the international stage. He further argued that Ghanaian artists are not making as much progress as they should because they are more focused on promoting Ghana than making quality music. He suggested that Ghanaian artists should focus on making quality music like their Nigerian counterparts and promote it to the world.

In conclusion, Kelvyn Boy's view that Ghanaian artists do not need to own the Afrobeat genre before they can do well is the best option. It is essential for Ghanaian artists to focus on creating quality music and promoting it to the world. By doing this, they can compete on the international stage and attract global attention to their music. It is time for Ghanaian artists to focus on their craft and make music that can stand the test of time, rather than trying to promote Ghana as the owner of Afrobeat.
