Franklin Sowa, the Graphic Communications Group Limited's (GCGL) Director of Sales and Marketing, is optimistic that the next Graphic National Development Series (GNDS) in Kumasi would offer ideas that will aid the nation in reversing its economic fortunes.
According to him, if the nation made more investments in the agricultural sector, it might turn around its economic fortunes.
Tomorrow, the GCGL will convene a high-level agricultural debate at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi, which will be presided over by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to address the nation's agricultural concerns.
Innovative Conversation
The first iteration of the GNDS, a new project by the corporation to commemorate the nation's independence, aims to identify practical solutions from the brightest minds in the agriculture industry.
The dialogue is anticipated to bring together agricultural value-chain actors, including farmer associations, input dealers, marketers, policymakers, development partners, financial institutions, and distribution agents. It will be held on the topic of "Transforming Ghana's Agriculture using Home-Grown Solutions for Food Security."

Former Twifo-Atti-Morkwa Constituency Member of Parliament Abraham Dwuma Odoom and Professor Father Godfrey Nzamujo of the Songha Center in the Republic of Benin
Speakers for the session are anticipated to include Professor Godfrey Nzamujo, Director of the Organic Farm Centre, Songhai.
Dr. Michael Abu Sakara, an agronomic and former Convention People's Party (CPP) presidential candidate, and Abraham Dwuma Odoom, a major agricultural policy advisor and a former Member of Parliament for Twifo-Atti-Morkwa in the Central Region, are two other speakers scheduled for the event.
Why agri?
Mr. Sowa gave an explanation of why the GCGL selected agriculture for the first installment of the series, citing the industry's significant economic impact.
He added that fixing the agriculture sector will aid in addressing many of the nation's most pressing socioeconomic issues, such as nutrition and food security.
He stated that "Agric is one of the pillars that, when we focus on and obtain the correct amount of interventions, can address our issues and improve our lives," and that the debate will spur national interest in the industry.
He expressed the hope that the nation still had what it required to make the agricultural industry viable and a significant contributor to the economy, despite the difficulties it was facing.
He believed that all the nation needed to restore its agriculture sector was the appropriate kind of answer.
He voiced his belief that just promoting backyard gardening may make a difference in the nation's struggles with food security.
"Let's start again, take a serious look at agriculture, and reform it. Suddenly, it will produce jobs for people, our taxes will improve, and the money can be utilized for other things," he said.
By encouraging people to eat high-quality food, Mr. Sowa claimed that improving the country's agriculture sector alone will assist promote excellent and healthy living.
At the end of the day, he said, "If people are healthy, your expenditure on medical supplies, medications, and all of those things can be decreased." He continued, "If you have an unwell population, your output as a nation will be greatly impacted. Accordingly, agriculture serves as the pivot around which the entire country can be oriented.

The GCGL Marketing Director spoke about the resource individuals chosen for the event and said that "they are people well-versed" in the agriculture business, with various sets of skills and proven track records.
He believed that the caliber of the speakers chosen for the occasion would assist highlight the most important measures that the nation needed to take to solve the problems in the agriculture sector.
For instance, Mr. Sowa claimed that Professor Nzamujo, the event's keynote speaker, had expertise in every facet of the agriculture industry.
