In the Negreira probe, Javier Tebas allegedly presented fake information against Barcelona, angering the team.
Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, was called upon to resign by Barcelona after it was claimed that he gave fake information against them.
According to a story from La Vanguardia published on Monday, Tebas provided prosecutors with information that sought to implicate the club and two former presidents in the ongoing Negreira case.
According to sources, Barcelona paid Jos Maria Enriquez Negreira's company, DASNIL 95 SL, more than 7 million for written reports and DVD evaluations of referees for the team before to games. When Negreira served as the vice-president of the Spanish football referees committee between 2001 and 2018, the payments are said to have been made.
The LaLiga president reportedly labeled the allegations that the Tebas-issued documents were decades old, unrelated to any of Barcelona's prior presidents, and part of another case "fake" on social media.
Barca wants a more thorough explanation from Tebas, though, and wants him to go.
Barcelona feels like the target of a media witch hunt because the club has never purchased referees, as president Joan Laporta has stated in recent weeks, according to a statement.
"While the president of LaLiga has attacked Barcelona through the media before, we could never have predicted that, in addition to his normal rubbish, he would have attempted to implicate our team with bogus proof.
"Because these are actions that shouldn't be permitted under the duties allocated to the LaLiga president, the news reported by La Vanguardia should alarm all LaLiga clubs. Mr. Tebas need to retire from his post for both this and other reasons, as well as out of respect for the LaLiga presidency and with dignity.
"But, given his fixation with torturing Barcelona and continually demonstrating his dislike and animosity towards our club, we understand that he will remain in his behaviour of continuing to destroy our club."
