As Christians celebrate Easter this year, six church leaders have urged Ghanaians to uphold the values of love, forgiveness, tolerance, honesty, and hard work.
The lesson of virtue (peace) is related to Easter, the remembering of Jesus Christ's death; therefore, they must also abstain from bad behavior and work to maintain the peace the nation currently enjoys.
The most reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, the Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, are among the religious leaders who made the call.
The other two are the General Overseers of the Lord's Pentecostal Church Worldwide, Apostle Eric Essandoh Anim Otoo, and the Foursquare Gospel Church in Ghana, Rev. Dr. Francis Sey, who also serves as the Presiding Bishop of the Western West Africa Episcopal District of the AME Zion Church.
The priests urged political parties to uphold strongly the principles of peace while they participated in their primaries, and they urged the security services to put peace first when doing their duty.
Preparations
Churches have planned and publicized the activities they will have for Easter in the lead-up to the holiday.
There are several ways to advertise, including with billboards, median signs, posting flyers on social media, and putting banners at strategic locations. the techniques used by churches to promote their programs.
Others have turned to electronic media, particularly radio and television, to carry Easter-related commercials throughout their shows.
Churches are hosting outdoor events (crusades and conferences) in addition to their inside programs from Holy Thursday through Easter Monday, which is often a holiday celebrated with picnics, beach activities, and other festivities.
Several pastors have asked outside speakers to deliver sermons in their congregations.
Ghana Methodist Church
The Most Rev. Dr. Boafo pleaded with Ghanaians, especially Christians, to allow the Easter spirit to move them to reject dishonesty, selfishness, immorality, bribery, corruption, and the indiscipline that had taken over society.
It should assist us in focusing our efforts on mending the societal wounds caused by politics, institutions, families, ethnicity, and religion. In order to ensure that problems of national concern become bolder and a priority for each and every one of us, he added, Easter must provide us with fresh possibilities to act as stewards of our environment and the planet.
In order for Ghanaians to have an accident-free Easter season, he asked people who would be driving throughout the festival season to be cautious on the roads.
