Former President Mahama claimed that Ghana required someone with his level of expertise to save its citizens from the present economic woes, which had made matters worse for the average citizen.

He said that he made the choice to ask Ghanaians for their support at this time in order to move the country forward and instill optimism, particularly among the youth.
