In order to secure the seat for the party in the general elections of 2024, some youth in the Upper East Region's Navrongo Central district are urging Dr. Raymond Ayilu, an economist and youth leader, to run in the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.
The young people think Dr. Ayilu is a political figure who can introduce new ideas and unify the party in the region before the elections.
Addressing the media, they said that Dr. Ayilu had the clear vision needed for the next parliament in 2025 as well as the proven leadership abilities.
On Monday, April 3, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducted sessions of its National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council.
The dates for the presidential and parliamentary primaries for the 2024 general elections have been authorized.
Elections for orphan seats, according to the party, will take place between August 1 and December 2, 2023, with nominations opening on June 16, 2023.

In the 2020 general elections, Sampson Tangombu of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) defeated the NPP for the Navrongo central seat.
From 2000 through 2016, the NPP held onto the seat.
The failure was due to dissension between Joseph Kofi Adda, a former MP and minister of aviation, and Abayage Tangoba, a 2020 NPP parliamentary candidate and a former minister of the Upper East Region.
Dr. Ayilu affirmed his preparedness to take the call in a media interview. Dr. Ayilu reaffirmed his willingness to heed the voice of the young in a media interview. In order to unify the party and "recapture the seat, which until 2020 was a traditional seat of the NPP," he claimed that he would follow the request.
About Dr. Ayilu
a young leader and economist, Dr. Raymond Ayilu. He earned a Master of Philosophy from the University of Ghana, a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Economics from the University of Cape Coast.
The Australian-based postdoctoral research scientist has years of experience working as a researcher, lecturer, and consultant for a variety of organizations, including the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.
In a number of other organizations, Dr. Ayilu has also served as a committee member, coordinator, and executive.
Dr. Ayilu is a skilled lobbyist, a seasoned youth leader, and a development economist by training. He served as President of the Graduate Student Association of Ghana (GRASAG), PRO of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), and President of the Association of Economics Students at the University of Cape Coast during his time as a student leader. He was a vocal supporter of Ghanaian students during that time.
He has been a stalwart supporter of the NPP's student and youth wing and made a significant contribution to the party's electoral success in 2016. Dr. Raymond Ayilu was hired as a special assistant at the beginning of the NPP administration.
