NANA B ASKS GHANA POLICE FOR ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF MAHAMA, ASIEDU NKETIAH FOR "TREASONABLE COMME

Former president John Dramani Mahama and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the national chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been requested to be detained, investigated, and prosecuted by the criminal investigation division of the Ghana Police Service, according to a formal petition by the NPP's Henry Nana Boakye alias Nana B.

The petition, which follows a similar move by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accuses the two of breaking the Criminal Offenses Act of 1960 (ACT 29) and committing crimes that contribute to breaches of the peace.

According to Nana B's appeal, Mahama and Nketiah's remarks are intended to incite violence for political advantage at the general elections in 2024.

Additionally, he claims that the criticism amounts to a subliminal threat to topple the constitutional procedure put in place for holding general elections in the nation.

High-status individuals like former President Mahama and Chairman Nketiah, in his view, cannot be shielded from arrest and inquiry.

The petition is supported by publications, movies, audios, and other pertinent information. To preserve Ghana's democracy and the 4th Republican Constitutional Framework, Boakye has demanded swift action.

The petition claims, in part, that "Former President John Dramani Mahama, notwithstanding his position as a statesman, openly lauded across several forums the revolutionary roots of the NDC and its unmatched potential when it comes to unleashing violence for political advantage. Furthermore, he made the following remarks:

that the NDC would approach the 2024 elections with a "do or die" and "boot for boot" mentality. This invariably illustrates their steadfast determination to employ legal or illegal methods, regardless of the repercussions, to gain an electoral edge. When he was asked during a media interview what he meant by 'boot for boot' and 'do or die", and if, with the benefit of hindsight, he would wish to recant such inflammatory words, John Dramani Mahama replied that he meant what he said and that he was never going to backtrack.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has often promised to use fire and brimstone to achieve the NDC's victory in the 2024 general elections. He has said that there will be bloodshed during the elections. and said his party was willing and ready to sacrifice lives to guarantee its triumph in 2024. He is on record as having stated unequivocally during his victory speech following his election as the National Chairman of the NDC on December 18, 2022, that it was time for members of the NDC to continue the fight to win the second independence of Ghana and that they are prepared to sacrifice everything, including their lives, for an NDC victory in the 2024 general elections.

"Given the powerful positions that John Dramani Mahama and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah occupy, the NPP is of the firm view that such criminally irresponsible and treasonable speech emanating from them portends a major threat for the peace and security of the state, encouraging their followers to disrupt the constitutional order by using certain unconventional and extra-constitutional methods to overthrow a democratically elected government.

"It is my view that this treasonable and incendiary statement by John Dramani Mahama and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, taken together, reflect a pattern of behavior aimed at encouraging NDC party lackeys to adopt all means, including violence, so long as an election win is ensured. It also represents a covert threat to subvert the procedures set forth in the constitution for holding the nation's general elections. Indeed, we think it was such irresponsible criticism emanating from them that recently enabled one of their own, the NDC Youth Organizer for Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, to openly assert that the youth of the NDC were prepared to assassinate individuals in order to achieve an NDC win in the 2024 national elections.
