Frank Lampard has claimed that he had no issue with Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, leading a dressing room meeting following the team's loss to Brighton.
Following the 2-1 loss to Brighton at Stamford Bridge, Boehly is thought to have entered the locker room with owners Behdad Eghbali and Hansjorg Wyss. Boehly is reported to have told the team that the situation on the field is "embarrassing."
Lampard told the press that he didn't have a problem with Boehly's choice to storm into the locker room after the game when he was questioned about it.
I'm at ease with that "said he. "For me, there may have been some criticism of our previous owner [Abramovich] for not attending games and otherwise disappearing. To be honest, it wasn't always the case.
"But in my opinion, it is a team owner's right to have the input they desire if they are very invested in the team and want to help and enhance it. When owners entered changing rooms for the first time as a player, it genuinely happened here at Chelsea; it had never really happened to me before.
"I distinctly recall how delighted I was to be able to touch, high-five, hear, and feel other people. Therefore, in terms of the club's identity and your goals, I don't think that is a negative thing.
"From my perspective, it is not a problem. After the game, I had certain things I wanted to say. Be positive when speaking to the players if the owner wishes to join. In the present era, it can be fairly common, as Kepa has already mentioned. No issue. In fact, it exudes passion, which is the first quality I like."
Wednesday night's second leg of Chelsea's UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match against Real Madrid will be Lampard's first opportunity to win as Chelsea's interim manager. Chelsea was defeated 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg.
