A new healthcare facility was opened and presented to the residents of Bontefufuo in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region yesterday by the mining business Asanko Gold Ghana. The goal of the initiative is to increase public access to healthcare.

The hospital has enough room for the storage of medical supplies, which are projected to be used by two to four physicians, 30 nurses, eight midwives, and other medical personnel.

Without this intervention, people in Bontefufuo and other nearby catchment villages would have to travel to Nkawie to receive medical care, including Esaase, Manhyia, Aboabo, Tetremu, Mpatoamu, Ahwerewa, Bonteso, and Akataniase.

Facility

The facility, which cost an estimated $1,765,382.48, is completely equipped and includes an ambulance that was provided by the Rabotec Group.

A theater, emergency department, lab, pharmacy, laundry, administrative offices, and distinct male, female, child, and maternity wards are just a few of the hospital's amenities.

The building of the hospital was done in response to a request made by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, asking the mining firm to construct a medical facility where it operates, at Bontefufuo.

The absence of a significant medical facility at the time led to the request.

CSR

The General Manager of Asanko, Andrew McGowan, stated during the project's inauguration ceremony that Otumfuo's request was in keeping with the company's corporate social duty, which led to the construction of the ultra-modern building.

In addition, he added that the action was part of a plan called "Asanko Opportunity Cycle" that expressly used the mine's presence to positively affect stakeholders and leave a legacy that would last after the mine closed.

He took advantage of the chance to encourage the beneficiaries to make excellent use of the facility and ensure that equipment was maintained to extend its useful life.

Dr. Charles Amoah, the managing director of Asanko, claimed that Otumfuo's assistance had enabled the enterprise and the Bontefufo community to coexist in harmony.

He urged the community's leaders and residents to continue their current collaboration with the Asanko Gold Mine in order to ensure complete peace for their mutual benefit.

Commendation

Asantehene's representative, Odeneho Nana Okyere Kusi Ntrama, the Essumejamanhene, praised Asanko for responding promptly to the concerns of the populace.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, said that the business deserved the community's help in order to address the urgent issue of galamsey encroachment, which jeopardized the security of its operations.

He cautioned locals against intruding on the mining sites.

The minister continued by saying that anyone who violates the law will be detained and prosecuted.

The Asaase-Bontefufuomhene, Nana Siaw Kesse II, the local member of parliament, George Obeng Takyi, and the district chief executive, Nii Ollenu Lartey, were all present at the celebration.
