Nigerian retired footballer Jay-Jay Okocha stirred up conversations over assertions he made concerning his career. According to the retired attacking midfielder, his transfer fee would have cost around €150m if he was still playing as a professional football player, this assertion from Okocha stirred up a whole of conversations from football fans across social media. A few of them are highlighted below;
@Myka veli
“Who's deceiving this man? Football today prefers
end product over skills and flair which is why nobody will spend a fortune on you”.
@Joshua Ubeku
“He would cost €200m - €250m. He was a destroyer! Nobody was praying to face Okocha. He left big names on the floor EVERY match day. He was a god!”.
@topen...
“Asides from irrelevant dribbles and one or two free
kicks, there is nothing special about okocha. He is
like Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle. Hype 500%
, output 12”.
@trending medic
“He's better than most €100m players now, but unfortunately an African player who doesn't score a lot of goals won't cost as much. Same reason he didn't command a huge transfer fee in his time”.
@Irunnia
“I wanted to argue & say it's not true. That Okocha
is lying then I remembered that Antony cost 100m
for just spinning. It's very possible. Player's prices today are so inflated”.
@EricoDeBasanta
“Mumu man. When you had the chance to move to
Utd and win trophies to become one of the best in Africa, an ordinary armband held u back from becoming
the most decorated African player of all time. You're
not even top 10 in my books. A failure with no trophies”.
Jay Jay Okocha played 73 matches for the Nigerian National team between the year of 1993 to 2006, scoring 14 goals, and was selected for three FIFA World Cup squads. Okocha is undoubtedly considered one of the best footballers to come out of Africa and Nigeria, he is also regarded as one of the dribblers in history.
