Dr. George Mawusi Afeti, a former principal of the former Ho Polytechnic (now Ho Technical University), was sworn in as the 13th member and Chairman of the Governing Council of the E.P. University College, Ho, on Friday of last week.
In that capacity, he will serve a four-year term and be responsible for overseeing the university college's governing policies as well as providing the institution's operational strategy and strategic framework.
He succeeded Rev. Dr. Setri Nyormi, who held the position for eight years.
During the induction ceremony, Very Rev. Yao Japhet Ledo, a former moderator of the EP Church in Ghana, congratulated Dr. Afeti on his new position and said that it was a calling to lead the Governing Council of EPUC.
He had yet another chance to continue serving God and humanity in the field of education, as he had done so admirably for many years.

Dr. Afeti has more than 30 years of academic experience and is a mechanical engineer, tertiary education consultant, and expert in technical and vocational education training (TVET).
Dr. Afeti is a professional engineer who has worked as a university professor, administrator, and international consultant for organizations including the World Bank, UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank.
He graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and from the University of Paris VI with a Dr. Ing.
Dr. Afeti was an associate professor and the head of the mechanical engineering department at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi, Nigeria. He also taught at KNUST and the University of Toulon in France.
He served as the principal of the former Ho Polytechnic for 13 years. In Nairobi, Kenya, he also served for four years as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa.
In order to strengthen the research and innovation capabilities of Africa's higher education institutions in the area of applied sciences and technology, Dr. Afeti is currently the Vice Chairman of the Consultative Advisory Group of the World Bank's Partnership for Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology (PASAT).
