Women should be courageous and ambitious in their pursuit of greater heights, according to Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon.
It is not wrong for women to have ambition, the university's first female vice chancellor said, adding that while it wasn't easy for her to reach where she is now, it did become attainable.
"As long as you are alive, your dreams are still legitimate; therefore, do not allow anyone or anything to stop you from having the courage to aim higher as a woman. Nothing is difficult to do, so don't allow the bad things you hear to get you down, she said.
The counsel was given by Prof. Amfo during a panel discussion at the just-finished Rotary 10th District Conference at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) under the topic "Imagine Rotary."
She emphasized the need for women to have the guts to run for higher positions despite whatever challenges they may encounter.
She claimed it would show the next generation of females that they could achieve success and hold very high positions, just like men.
"Younger women are motivated to aim towards reaching such levels or beyond the more we see women in higher positions."
Let's support one another as women so that we may collectively build the world with the female leaders that we so much want.
Speaking on the need to economically empower women, the Vice Chancellor said that, as opposed to women who live in poverty, economically empowered women can give value to their lives and pursue their dreams.

Identifying and encouraging young girls to strive boldly towards being among the leaders of whichever region they find themselves in, Prof. Amfo praised women in high positions and urged them to keep up the excellent work.
Nakeeyat Dramani Sam and Mrs. Isabella Boaten, managing partners of AB & David Africa, talked on women's empowerment and sanitation and water resources, respectively, as other panelists at the conference.
