In order to better market their expertise and abilities for the development of the business, stakeholders in the events, hotel, and tourism sectors have created an initiative.

Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, or MICE for short, aim to coordinate the industry's technocrats, equipment, and logistics providers to provide business travelers with the best possible services.

The MICE community is made up of experts that organize and carry out events such as sizable public gatherings, concerts, association meetings, corporate board meetings, and brand activations that take place in Ghana with the primary goal of generating a special chance for networking.

Last Friday at Labadi Beach, industry stakeholders came together for the first time to discuss the plan.  Yaw Afriyie Amoateng, the Deputy Director of the Ghana Investments Promotion Centre (GIPC), stated that MICE will help the local hospitality and tourism industries grow and bring in money for the government since Ghana is becoming a popular tourist destination in the West African area.

"MICE is inextricably linked to commercial real estate, transportation, food and beverages, hospitality, and many value chain opportunities in the industry," the speaker stated.

He said that the platform will allow companies to conduct face-to-face meetings with potential customers, suppliers, and partners to facilitate business discussions as well as give them a forum to advertise their goods and services.

He urged the sector to use technology in its operations and raise the caliber of services offered to draw in both leisure and destination administration.

The purpose of the project, according to Wilhelmina Bruce Apenteng, Lead Consultant at IbyService Destination Management, the event's organizers, was to highlight the MICE industry's increasing and developing consequences.

She argued that following the Year of Return, the focus must go to far bigger initiatives like the establishment of an organization to increase foreign tourism.

We are emphasizing the fact that business tourism generates more revenue than leisure tourism in order to convince the business community that Ghana has an ecosystem that encourages tourists to feel at ease conducting business there. One such project is the MICE project.

She urged industry participants to take notice, prepare ahead, and keep an eye out for potential prospects for the sector's and the economy's growth.
