In the Ajumako Enyan-Esiam District of the Central Region, the Cancer Support Network Foundation (CSNF), in partnership with the Rotary Club Accra-Airport and the Pop Chain Alliance, has sponsored a four-day free breast cancer screening exercise.

Over 600 people were screened as part of the exercise, which began on April 24, and 78 people, including males, had abnormalities in their breasts.

In order to further inform guests about the risk factors for breast cancer and how to lower their chances of developing the disease, a grand durbar of chiefs and natives of the many beneficiary villages was also convened on April 27.

In his remarks, Mr. Blaise Ackom, Secretary of the CSNF, emphasized the need for public awareness. Taking cancer screening seriously, he added that even when abnormalities are found, they should be treated when they are still treatable.

Therefore, he recommended that screening program participants who discovered breast lumps follow up at any recognized health center so that more research could be done.

He asserts that not all breast lumps are indicative of breast cancer since some lumps are benign (not cancerous).

The CSNF will continue to raise awareness about breast cancer in the nation and help people who cannot afford treatment, according to Mr. Ackom, a health care worker.

"As a team, we're committed to assisting those fighting and preventing cancer." Many individuals have beaten cancer with our assistance, while others are learning more about the illness and how to lower one's chance of contracting it.

"The CSNF is also focused on using a preventative approach to fight cancer because we believe that prevention is always better than cure," he continued.

Dr. Juliet Appiah, the medical oncologist who founded the Foundation and is headquartered in the United States of America (USA), was praised by Mr. Ackom for being the driving force behind all of the projects the Foundation has undertaken with the help of its devoted contributors.

He also thanked the Rotary Club, Pop Chain Alliance, and all of the CSNF's executives and volunteers for helping to make the breast cancer screening programme a success.
