The American Embassy in Ghana has announced intentions to raise non-immigrant visa application fees beginning on May 30, 2023.
According to the embassy, prices for foreign students (F visas), exchange visitors (J visas), business and tourist travel (B1/B2 visas), and other visa classes that don't need petitions would increase from $160 to $185.
The price will increase from $190 to $205 for petition-based nonimmigrant categories (H, L, O, P, Q, and R).
The embassy added that all US embassies and consulates worldwide will be subject to the price hike, which was decided by the Department of State in Washington.
It was stated that the fees will only change starting on May 30, 2023, for new visa applications. People who apply, pay the visa fee prior to that day, and arrange a meeting within 365 days of payment won't be impacted.
However, candidates must set up a consultation within 365 days. The embassy noted that nonimmigrant visa costs are established according to the actual cost of delivering the services.
On May 30, 2023, nonimmigrant visa costs will go up globally. The cost of B1/B2 visas for business and tourism travel, F visas for foreign students, J exchange visitor visas, and other visa classes that do not need petitions would rise to $185 from $160. The charge will rise from $190 to $205 for petition-based nonimmigrant categories H, L, O, P, Q, and R. "The Department of State in Washington, D.C., has created this fee hike, and it will go into effect equitably at every single one of the United States' embassies and consulates worldwide," the embassy stated in a statement.
"This change does not apply to applicants who pay the visa fee before May 30, 2023, and book an interview within 365 days of the date of payment." Applicants must simply schedule an appointment within 365 days; there is no condition that the interview take place within that time frame.
