Liverpool have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer market. While the Red Devils will have to spend big, signing the likes of Neymar or Lionel Messi will not be the plan.

Regardless of what Liverpool do this summer, there will be more exciting moves happening elsewhere. Across the rest of the Premier League there will be plenty of movement - potentially with star names to come.

Newcastle United have largely made secret and smart contracts to date under their new ownership, but 90Min reports that its Saudi Arabian investors want a 'branded' transfer in around this time and are therefore showing an interest in buying 31-year-old Neymar, from PSG. Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to be one of the clubs that want to sign Argentine striker Lionel Messi, 35, when his contract with PSG expires this summer, according to Football. London, though Barcelona, ??if they are to make money, must be the favorites.

It seems that Messi will definitely leave amid growing doubts that Neymar will also leave. The Brazilian liked an Instagram post showing PSG as a 'small club' this week and the French club's fans gathered outside his home to exhort him to leave the team Leading Ligue 1.

"Will we see Neymar next season? Believe me, I'm very focused on the last five matches coming up and we'll see what happens," PSG head coach Mr. Christophe Galtier said today. It's hardly convincing.

While a move to the Premier League will attract a lot of attention if they come to fruition, Liverpool won't be vying for any big names - for obvious reasons.

Instead, while Liverpool will spend big, they will focus their energies on promising talents with a lot to prove who will perfectly fit Jürgen Klopp's style of play.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain.

Of course, Liverpool have made transfer mistakes before and in the short term perhaps an expensive move for Messi or Neymar could pay off for one of their domestic rivals. But in the long run, Liverpool will be the leader to long-term success by sticking to their approach and finding gems that are much cheaper and more relevant.

Todd Boehly's scattered gun approach - who had his eye on Cristiano Ronaldo before Thomas Tuchel made it clear that signing the aging Portuguese star was a bad idea - has been costly, but won't surprised to see him go for Messi.

Neymar, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Manchester United as well as part of a possible Qatar takeover (via the Daily Express), which would be another transfer Liverpool are not interested in.

Wherever you are in the world - in the US, UK or beyond - you don't want to miss a thing. If anything, if their European football rivals make expensive transfers like these, Liverpool will have to welcome them - as long as their own company is there this summer, the big names won't make much of a difference in the end.

What's more, if Newcastle turn to Neymar, for example, that would seem to signal a change in their consistent, no-nonsense approach to date.

Although he has money to burn, such a move would be a risky one.
