With the official signing of a joint venture agreement, Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) and ZeroNox Inc., a sustainable off-highway vehicle electrification firm, have established international cooperation to deliver more electric cars in Ghana.
The deal intends to advance clean technology solutions in Africa and was inked at ZeroNox's US headquarters.
The arrangement is for the conversion of 1,000 waste trucks owned by Zoomlion, a Jospong Group company, from diesel to electric power using the ZeroNox electric powertrain platform (ZEPP).
During the ceremony, a prototype for an all-electric waste truck, the first of its kind and a notable accomplishment in the refuse truck electrification project, debuted.
It is anticipated that Jospong's fleet of 1,000 trash trucks would consume less energy after being electrified by ZeroNox by 18 million mature trees, or 400,000 metric tons over five years, of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
To honor the occasion, lawmakers from the US legislature and representatives from Ghana's government gathered Vonn Christenson, Robert Cruess, Jason Eggett, Jacob Gotberg, and Robert Cruess, co-founders and chief executives of ZeroNox.
Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, served as the delegation's leader.
An important milestone for both companies was reached with the announcement of the largest fleet retrofit electrification project in the world and the signing of the agreement between Jospong Group and ZeroNox, which positions Ghana as the entry point for the distribution of electric vehicles and related technology across Africa.
Savings: The Jospong Group is predicted to save up to $323 million over the course of five years, which will allow it to quickly recoup its investment.
remarked Dr. Siaw Agyepong. What began as hope and an impossibility is now being revealed right before our eyes.
In order to trial converting three of its garbage trucks into electric ones in accordance with its aim to promote clean energy and sustainability to advance the environmental and social agenda, Jospong Group entered into a cooperative agreement with ZeroNox in 2022.
Adaptation work
The world's largest fleet refit electrification project will be carried out in collaboration with a worldwide leader like the Jospong Group, according to Mr. Christenson.
"This relationship developed as a result of an agreement in the aims of our two organizations—a desire to bring about a better, more sustainable future in which we can cut carbon emissions without compromising vehicle performance."
"We anticipate developing comparable, very beneficial strategic alliances in the future," he continued.
Alhassan S. Tampuli, Ghana's deputy transport minister, made the suggestion that the Energy Commission and the Ministry of Transport were in the midst of implementing important policy steps to manage the switch from combustible engines to electric cars.
He stated that in order to catch up with him, we must establish the required ground rules to support the roll-up since, being the businessman that he is, he has taken the initiative.
Martha A. Flores, the mayor of Porterville, where ZeroNox is based, said that the two businesses were introducing clean technology to Ghana and encouraging sustainable growth throughout Africa.
She said the city was pleased to acknowledge the positive effects that the alliance between Jospong Group and ZeroNox will have on the world.
"New opportunities for economic growth and environmental stewardship are being created," she insisted.
The Ghanaian government awarded Jospong Group and ZeroNox at the ceremony in appreciation of their contributions to the worldwide reduction of carbon emissions and the teaching of Ghana's youth about green technology solutions.
