As part of the Rice Value Chain Improvement (RVCI) initiative in the Central Region, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) taught farmers and machinery operators.

For 48 farmers and equipment operators, the three facilitators—Dr. Yang Won-Ha, an agronomist and pioneer in seedling preparation; Dr. Park Pyung Sik, a rice economist; and Shin Hyeong Gi—conducted a 3-day training program for leaders.

The purpose of the training was to provide practical knowledge and skills in direct seeding and seedling transplanting techniques to machinery operators, lead farmers, and agricultural officers.

Additionally, they received instruction on how to use the rice-seeding equipment.

enhancing the practical knowledge and abilities of lead farmers in the project communities with regard to the production of rice in the five project beneficiary districts.

The beneficiaries were guided through direct seeding techniques, seedling preparation technology, and hands-on instruction in the use of rice seed drill equipment, which was gifted to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture by the Government of Korea through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The recipients obtained extensive information and abilities in rice production through the training sessions, which were held in Assin Akropong, Assin Foso, and Twifo Afosuah.

About 400 farmer leaders will be equipped with knowledge and abilities in enhanced rice farming techniques and business skills through the training program component of the RVCI project.

Using the rice value chain, farmer-based organizations' leaders and members may improve their commercial acumen.

The most recent training, the first training leader program to be held this year, is the fourth program on the RVC initiative.

275 farmer leaders participated in training workshops under the scheme last year.

Minister for the Central Region

The crew visited Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister, during their tour.

Dr. Won-Ha stated that it is important not to undervalue the Central Region's capacity to produce large quantities of rice.

He stated that the purpose of the tour was to provide assistance in realizing the objective by enhancing the abilities of farmers and other auxiliary personnel.

Mrs. Assan expressed her gratitude to the team and added that the area did not take for granted the efforts of KOICA to make the Central region the center of rice production in the very near future.

She stated that the Regional Coordinating Council was fully behind the initiative and prepared to help in any manner.

Dr. Chung Haegon, the project manager, thanked Mrs. Assan for supporting the initiative from the beginning and the Korean professionals for sharing their knowledge and expertise with the farmers.
